Folding Techniques

Here are some of the best folding techniques that I’ve found to work best:

Cuff Fold

A time saver and a great ‘general’ fold.  I’ve also found this to be a great fold for boys (extra absorption at the front of the diaper).

Lay out your cloth diaper lengthwise

Fold just enough of the diaper up so that it is about the same length of your cover

Turn it over so the fold is face down under the diaper.

Fold in the left side of the diaper about a third and do the same for the right side.

Tuck the right side into the left side, creating a cuff at the bottom of the diaper.

That’s it!

Angel Wing

Great for containing messy messes!

Follow instructions from the cuff fold and then open the diaper to create a ‘pocket’ for the solid to go into.

Bikini Twist

Best for babies with thick legs

Lay your diaper flat lengthwise in front of you

Take the bottom right corner and ‘twist’ it with the bottom left corner (overlap the corners and place them in the opposite corner from where it started

Fold up the front of the diaper (you may want to secure this fold with a snappi or pins)

The ‘middle’ of this diaper fold is much thinner than traditional folds (see step 3 above) for babies with super chunky legs.

Daytime doubler

This fold works great with two different sizes diapers OR an insert.

Lay your larger prefold under the smaller prefold (smaller one should be folded into thirds) lengthwise. I like to put the small prefold at the top of the diaper then I don’t have to shift it later once the fold is done.

From here it essentially the same as the cuff fold but we have an ‘insert’ inside the diaper for extra absorbency.

Nighttime doubler

For this fold you do the same as the daytime doubler but use two of the same size diaper. For example, two toddler size diapers fit into the medium covers just fine.

*None of these folds require pins or any other fasteners (except maybe the bikini twist)…We do offer pins and snappis for those who are a little un-trusting! :)
